NFL Week 2 Power Rankings

I've always been a fan of these, because it's like the Top 25 poll of the NFL. I've never been a fan though of listing all the teams 1-32. Instead, I wished they would always do it by conference, how it really matters since the top 6 from the conference make the playoffs. So that's what I'm gonna do. I would have done this after Week 1 but I don't think one can make an honest opinion of a team after one game. Two games is a trend (ask Luke) so now, I feel comfortable enough to put some rankings together.

AFC
1. Pittsburgh (2-0) - This is a team on a mission. Mike Tomlin has this team believing that no one should beat them with their balanced offense and aggressive defense. (Next: @ Philadelphia)
2. Denver (2-0) - Going for 2 to win? Talk about confidence in your team. Jay Cutler is going to be a star in this league. (vs. New Orleans)
3. Indianapolis (1-1) - I think you saw them wake up in the second half of that Minnesota game. Watch out for them now that Peyton looks healthy. (vs. Jacksonville)
4. New England (2-0) - The offense did and will struggle under Cassel but that defense is doing its best to pick up the slack. (vs. Miami)
5. Buffalo (2-0) - Who saw this coming? Trent Edwards is moving that offense and with Brady out, the Bills are gonna make a push for the division. (vs. Oaklnad)
6. San Diego (0-2) - They may be winless but they've lost by a combined 2 points and looked great in both games. And Darren Sproles is pretty darn good. (vs. NY Jets)
7. Tennessee (2-0) - Undefeated and Kerry Collins is the QB. Wow. Chris Johnson helps to stabilize that offense but it's the defense that is the reason for 2 wins. (vs. Houston)
8. Jacksonville (0-2) - Another 0-2 team that hasn't played terribly but run into two motivated teams in TEN and BUF. Needs to stop turning the ball over though. (@ Indianapolis)
9. New York Jets (1-1) - Brett Favre is playing like Brett Favre. Only problem is he does not have his usual suspects around him to make him look good. (@ San Diego)
10. Cleveland (0-2) - Injuries, injuries, injuries. Browns lose DE Robaire Smith for the season, as if they needed another player gone. Still talented enough to bounce back from this slow start. (@ Baltimore)
11. Baltimore (1-0) - Troy Smith will re returning to practice soon after a nasty infection. Will Flacco keep his job? Keep an eye on that situation. (vs. Cleveland)
12. Houston (0-1) - Let's hope that their stadium is okay. Cause it's bad enough trying to get fans to watch this team. (@ Tennessee)
13. Oakland (1-1) - The Lane Kiffin/Al Davis saga continues but for now, all eyes are on Darren McFadden. 162 yards on the ground show that he was well worth the high draft pick. (@ Buffalo)
14. Cincinnati (0-2) - I thought the strength of this team was the offense? Marvin Lewis better turn this around quick or he might want to start looking for a new job. (@ NY Giants)
15. Miami (0-2) - Right when I thought Chad Pennington was a good fit, he stinks up the joint and John Beck comes in late. That can't be a good sign. (@ New England)
16. Kansas City (0-2) - A team with Larry Johnson and Tony Gonzalez but a quarterbacks with the last names of Thigpen, Croyle and Huard? Yikes. (@ Atlanta)

NFC
1. Dallas (2-0) - Easily the class of the NFC. The Romo-Owens connection could be as good as Brady-Moss of 2007. Roy Williams could hurt though. (@ Green Bay)
2. Philadelphia (1-1) - The loss to Dallas just showed how close these teams are. A heathy McNabb all season means this team will be a force on offense all season. (vs. Pittsburgh)
3. NY Giants (2-0) - The NFC East is stacked and the Super Bowl champs are playing like it so far. Brandon Jacobs is also emerging as a top-5 RB in the league. (vs. Cincinnati)
4. Green Bay (2-0) - Who's doubting Aaron Rodgers now? He's done nothing but impress people. And with his young WR corps, this could be a high-flying offense for years to come. (vs. Dallas)
5. Carolina (2-0) - Difference between this year and last year? Jake Delhomme back under center. And better news for the team: Steve Smith is back after his team suspension. (@ Minnesota)
6. Arizona (2-0) - Ken Whisenhunt had it right picking Kurt Warner to start at QB. His Boldin-Fitzgerald WR duo compares with the Bruce-Holt pairing he had in St. Louis. (@ Washington)
7. New Orleans (1-1) - If this team could play defense, they'd be sick. But injuries are plaguing them too. If they get healthy, they'll move up this list. (@ Denver)
8. San Francisco (1-1) - This is a young team built around solid players like LB Patrick Willis and RB Frank Gore. Not surprised at all by their comeback over the Seahawks. (vs. Detroit)
9. Tampa Bay (1-1) - Not sure if Brian Griese can keep this team afloat but I know their defense sure can. Monte Kiffin is a wizard with defenses. (@ Chicago)
10. Chicago (1-1) - Now that we all know that offensive output against Indy in Week 1 was a fluke, better hope that defense gets back to 2006 form (vs. Tampa Bay)
11. Minnesota (0-2) - They were a trendy Super Bowl pick before the season started. That was before we all found out though that Tarvaris Jackson still hasn't grown into an NFL QB. (vs. Carolina)
12. Washington (1-1) - Good to know that this team can score touchdowns. After the opening week game against the Giants, I had my doubts. (vs. Arizona)
13. Seattle (0-2) - Talk about a fall from grace. Supposed to be Mike Holmgren's swan song but right now, turning into a terrible grand finale. (vs. St. Louis)
14. Atlanta (1-1) - Matt Ryan and Co. can't play the Lions every week unfortunately. This team still has a lot of work to do. (vs. Kansas City)
15. St. Louis (0-2) - The talent to score is definitely there. So what is the problem? (@ Seattle)
16. Detroit (0-2) - Any team that can find a way to throw 2 pick-sixes in the 4th quarter deserves this spot. Might be time to groom a young QB like Drew Stanton. (@ San Francisco)
