NFL Week 1 Early Game Thoughts

Nice to have the NFL back isn't it? Now, I get to wake up on Saturday to football and fall asleep on Sunday night after hearing Madden say things that don't need to be said or can't be understood.

1. How good did the Atlanta Falcons offense look? Granted, they were playing the Lions defense but Michael Turner is really going to make a difference for that team this season. And Matt Ryan was solid, which is all you can ask.

2. What happened to the Bengals offense? Carson Palmer not throwing for 100 yards is ridiculous. If this is a team that wanted to focus on defense, that's fine. But you gotta score. If I were Chad JOHNSON, I'd change my name back cause the new name brought some bad play with it.

3. Brett Favre and Chad Pennington played well for their new teams. Favre is still throwing bullets and butterflies and getting lucky. Meanwhile, Pennington is still that QB that is solid but not good enough to win a lot of games. That's always been the downside for him. He won't lose you the game, but he won't win it either. Also, Ricky Williams plays good when he's not on drugs. Nice to see.

4. Tom Brady going down could be really really bad for the Pats. Matt Cassel did a fine job backing him up but that offense is simply not the same. And since Brady has been in there so much, Cassel's only time with the first team has only been this preseason, and the Pats went 0-4. Watch his status over the week.

5. If Jacksonville ever gets a consistent offense, they will be a force in this league. But right now, Garrard keeps throwing picks and they can't maintain their running game. Their D does all they can to slow down the Titans but if they are on the field all game, they're gonna get tired.

Final Tidbits:
- McNabb is back and that's good to see.
- Wilie Parker looked real good today. Fantasy owner's delight
- Gotta love how all of Drew Brees' passes are about 10-20 yards but go for 50-60 with the YAC

Good late games to come!

  2. Actually, Ocho Cinco was on the back. Or am I wrong about that?
