NFL Week 1 Late Game Thoughts

Yeah, so 8pm didn't work out. Got a little busy at work doing something. But here are some thoughts:

1. Cleveland fans...get ready for a long season. Last year, the Browns got 10 wins against a fairly week schedule. And now after just one game against one of the better teams in the league, the Browns laid an egg. The offense was anemic in great weather. The defense couldn't stop anyone, including a runningback with the last name of Choice and the first name of Felix.

2. How bout the ending to that Carolina/San Diego game? Mad props to Jake Delhomme and company. The final drive was flawless. He kelpt his team cool and composed the entire way and on the last throw, his pump fake faked the defense AND the cameraman. And don't forget, Carolina's best player, Steve Smith, was suspended for the first 2 games. Look out for the Panthers this year. John Fox is fighting to keep his job from Bill Cowher and so far, he's winning the fight.

3. The Tom Brady prognosis is not good at all. Looks like he's done for the year. And while this is big news and unfortunate for him, please let's not call it the end of the world. NBC analysts started talking about how devastating this is for the NFL. Trust me, it's not. I actually think many people will appreciate less Belichick and New England in our lives. People said the same when Tiger went out for the year and look, golf survived. This is the NFL. Stars come and go every year (or in the case of Brett Favre, never go away). We'll be fine without Brady and his "greatness". Now, let's really see how good of a coach Bill Belichick is

4. I don't know about you but I think the NFL world flipped upside down. Teams many think will make the playoffs (SD, CLE, JAX, INDY, TB) lost while others (NE, DAL, TEN) may have lost more than a game. May have lost their quarterbacks to injury, though Romo should be fine. It's only Week 1 but it's kind of scary to see those teams struggle.

Alright, that's all for now. Two more to go.
