NFL Week 8 Power Rankings

Yep, it's official. This NFL season makes no sense. Last this week, I will have a special Trick-or-Treat post about the NFL so I'll leave the small talk for that and move to the rankings.

1. Tennessee (7-0) - They're doing it all with defense...and Kerry Collins. The Penn State magic must be rubbing off on him. (Next: vs. GB)
2. Pittsburgh (5-2) - Yeah they lost but in this confusing AFC, they still deserve this spot near the top. (Next Mon: @ WAS)
3. Buffalo (5-2) - Another team that lost but they have proven that they are gonna be a force all season in this conference. (Next: vs. NYJ)
4. New England (5-2) - All the talk about no Brady maybe can quiet now. The team is 5-2 and tied for the division lead. (Next: @ IND)
5. Baltimore (4-3) - Hard to ignore their performance this season. Looks eerily similar to Super Bowl winning squad. (Next: @ CLE)
6. Jacksonville (3-4) - Didn't know Jaguars could lay eggs but they sure did against the Browns. Two 0-7 teams next though. (Next: @ CIN)
7. Denver (4-3) - Not sold completely on this team. The offense is amazing. But it's the defense that has to step up in the final 9 games. (Next: vs. MIA)
8. Indianapolis (3-4) - This is not the same Peyton Manning from previous years. If it is, they'll fight back from this start. (Next: vs. NE)
9. San Diego (3-5) - I would say that a 3-5 start kills their playoff chances but not this season in the AFC. Bye Week should help. (Next: Bye Week)
10. Miami (3-4) - Good confidence-boosting win over a good Bills team. Pickup of Pennington has been great for them. (Next: @ DEN)
11. NY Jets (4-3) - They haven't played like a team over .500 and Favre has just been flat-out reckless with the ball. (Next: @ BUF)
12. Houston (3-4) - The 0-4 hole is tough to climb out of but 3 wins in a row almost does it. Not out of the playoff hunt at all. (Next: @ MIN)
13. Cleveland (3-4) - They have two quality wins to hang their hats on. 4 of next 5 games at home. Time to make their move. (Next: vs. BAL)
14. Kansas City (1-6) - Thigpen and the Chiefs played admirably to move up to #14. Adding Culpepper would be a great move for this team. (Next: vs. TB)
15. Oakland (2-5) - Just another bad showing by the Raiders. Why would anyone take this job, even on an interim status? (Next: vs. ATL)
16. Cincinnati (0-7) - The prognosis on Palmer doesn't sound good. And as he goes, so does this team. (Next: vs. JAX)

1. NY Giants (6-1) - They don't look as good as last year in my mind but the record is better. So maybe it's just me. (Next: vs. DAL)
2. Carolina (6-2) - At some point, FOX will have to realize that this team deserves prime billing and not the NFC East. (Next: Bye Week)
3. Washington (6-2) - Surprise of the season for me in the NFC. The change from Joe Gibbs to Jim Zorn has been seamless. (Next Mon: vs. PIT)
4. Tampa Bay (5-3) - Ran into an inspired Dallas team at the wrong time. Should rebound nicely though against the lowly Chiefs. (Next: @ KC)
5. Philadelphia (4-3) - When Westbrook is healthy, this team is scary good. Defense needs to step up a bit more though. (Next: @ SEA)
6. Dallas (5-3) - They needed the win and got it. But a lot of talk about lack of confidence in Brad Johnson. Stay tuned to the saga. (Next: @ NYG)
7. Arizona (4-3) - We know this team can score. What we also know is that this defense has to get better if they wanna be true contenders. (Next: @ STL)
8. New Orleans (4-4) - Huge win across the pond for a team that has playoff talent but a record that says otherwise. (Next: Bye Week)
9. Green Bay (4-3) - They come off the bye week and have three of the next 4 on the road. Week off was probably good for Rodgers' health. (Next: @ TEN)
10. Chicago (4-3) - Also coming off a bye week. Kyle Orton should have a field day with the Lions before a tussle with the Titans. (Next: vs. DET)
11. Atlanta (4-3) - Tough to place them this low but it's frankly because of their lack of big-game experience. (Next: @ OAK)
12. St. Louis (2-5) - Despite the loss, the Rams have to be encouraged with how they stayed in the game with no Steven Jackson. (Next: @ NYJ)
13. Minnesota (3-4) - Bye Week came at a good time for them. Chance to figure things out on both sides of the ball after a sketchy start. (Next: vs. HOU)
14. Seattle (2-5) - I never thought Seneca Wallace would ever win a game in the NFL. Guess dreams do come true. (Next: vs. PHI)
15. San Francisco (2-5) - I really do think Mike Singletary is ready to be an NFL head coach. Too bad he starts with the Niners. (Next: Bye Week)
16. Detroit (0-7) - Their next five games: CHI, JAX, CAR, TB, TEN. Seriously, they could go 0-16 this season. (Next: @ CHI)
