NFL Week 7 Power Rankings

I don't know about you but I can't figure out this NFL season. The teams that many thought would be competing for the Super Bowl now found themselves just hoping to make the playoffs. And we're not even halfway through the season and already, three head coaches have been fired. Needless to say, it's been a crazy season so far.

But despite the craziness, some teams are playing consistently and slowly making me and many others believers. But again, plenty of season left and as you know, just one injury can turn a team's season upside down.

1. Tennessee (6-0) - Have only given up 66 points in 6 games. Yep, I think it's safe to say they are 6-0 because of the defense. (Next: vs. IND)
2. Buffalo (5-1) - Their stadium had no power but their offense looked electric regardless. This Bills team is for real and definitely now, the favorites to win the AFC East. (Next: @ Miami)
3. Jacksonville (3-3) - May only be at .500 but this team is dangerous. And the schedule is light after a tough 6-game start. CLE, CIN and DET are the next three. (Next: vs. CLE)
4. Pittsburgh (5-1) - Typical Steelers team that wins ugly. But this team needs to get healthy. The next four games are brutal. Good thing is that 3 of them are at home. (Next: vs. NYG)
5. Indianapolis (3-3) - This starts the pack of teams that have underachieved so far. Another bad loss this week. And next up are the Titans. Yikes. (Next: @ TEN)
6. Denver (4-3) - Second loss in a row for a team that might be the best in the conference. Bye week should be big for them. They need to get healthy. (Next: Bye Week)
7. New England (4-2) - You know you've got a good system when your third string runningback runs wild. Matt Cassel still isn't scaring anyone at QB though. (Next: vs. STL)
8. Baltimore (3-3) - That defense is just scary good again. The offense needs to pick up the slack though if they wanna compete for a playoff berth. (Next: vs. OAK)
9. San Diego (3-4) - As if playing in London next week wasn't bad enough, the Chargers have to play a New Orleans team that needs win #4 just as bad as they do. (Next: vs. NO in London)
10. New York Jets (3-3) - If you need further proof that the Jets are an enigma, look at the Oakland game this week. They don't know how to put it all together for 60 minutes. (Next: vs. KC)
11. Houston (2-4) - This is a team playing with some confidence now. And they have talent so any contending team better not look past them. (Next: vs. CIN)
12. Miami (2-4) - Right when the Dolphins seem to be swimming in smooth waters, they lose 2 in a row. And they'll prolly lose the next two games as well. (Next: vs. BUF)
13. Cleveland (2-4) - Well, the excitement from the NYG win is gone after a sleepy performance against Washington. At least Kellen is okay right? (Next: @ JAX)
14. Oakland(2-4) - Congrats to Tom Cable for his first win as a head coach. Though I'm pretty sure Raiders fans weren't too impressed with the team's performance. (Next: @ BAL)
15. Cincinnati (0-7) - You can see signs of fight in this team and signs of hope in Ryan Fitzpatrick. But until Carson is back, the wins will be tough to come by, (Next: @ HOU)
16. Kansas City (1-5) - It's never a good sign when you have three quarterbacks play in one game...oh, and it's the regular season. (Next: @ NYJ)

1. Tampa Bay (5-2) - It was business as usual for the Bucs with the win over SEA. May be a little early to say but the Super Bowl is in Tampa. Home game possibly? (Next: @ DAL)
2. New York Giants (5-1) - Didn't really impress anyone with their win over SF but a win is a win. Got a good one this week against a good PIT team. (Next: vs. SF)
3. Washington (5-2) - Stat of the first 7 games for the Redskins: Jason Campbell with zero interceptions. If he keeps that up, the 'Skins will keep on winning. (Next: @ DET)
4. Carolina (5-2) - Right when I think their offense may not be as good as I think, they prove me wrong and score 30 on the Saints. Not too shabby. (Next: vs. AZ)
5. Chicago (4-3) - If you had to guess who led the NFC in points scored, would you guess the Bears? And to think, Kyle Orton is their QB. Unreal. (Next: Bye Week)
6. Philadelphia (3-3) - With Dallas down on their luck right now, this is the chance the Eagles need to get to third in the division. See if they advantage of it. (Next: vs. ATL)
7. Arizona (4-2) - Coming off a bye week but have to travel to Carolina. Not an easy task. And don't look now but the Rams are charging. (Next: @ CAR)
8. Atlanta (4-2) - The bye week may have come at the wrong time for the Falcons after the thrilling win over CHI. Better bring all they have for Philly. (Next: @ PHI)
9. Green Bay (4-3) - Very nice win over the Colts. But the bye week is next, meaning they get a week to cool down instead of stay hot. (Next: Bye Week)
10. Minnesota (3-4) - This team has plenty of talent but also plenty of problems. Special teams and turnovers being the most glaring ones to fix in the bye week. (Next: Bye Week)
11. Dallas (4-3) - Yeah, they may be 4-3 but this team needs help in mroe ways than one. And the next two games provide no place to hide in TB and NYG. (Next: vs. TB)
12. New Orleans (3-4) - It's crazy when a team as good as New Orleans is this low but the NFC is that good. Trip to London won't be as much fun with no Reggie though. (Next: vs. SD in London)
13. St. Louis (2-4) - In a division as weak as the NFC West, the Rams aren't out of it yet. 9-7 may do the job and Jim Haslett may just lead them to that number. (Next: @ NE)
14. Seattle (1-5) - Just like Cincy, this team isn't the same with their starting quarterback under center. Tough break for Mike Holmgren's last go-around. (Next: @ SF)
15. San Francisco (2-5) - Mike Nolan is out and Mike Singletary is in. Pretty sure though a head coaching change won't help this team like it did for STL. (Next: vs. STL)
16. Detroit (0-6) - Someone explain to me how a quarterback like Dan Orlovsky is a starter while a guy like Daunte Culpepper is siitting at home? (Next: vs. WAS)

  1. What is it with you and Jacksonville? I know you thought they would be good at the start of the year, and there is still time for them to become good down the road. But for you to have them third, in front of the steelers (who beat them despite being banged up) is a joke.

  2. they are a dangerous team right now. they are healthy and pittsburgh is not. and david garrard is passing the ball

  3. well im pretty sure that unhealthy steelers team already beat your healthy jaguars ... i understand your infatuation with the jags, but you need to table that for these rankings, because it ruins your credibility ... the jags COULD be better than the steelers, but RIGHT NOW, it's not even close ... look at me defending the steelers, wow

  4. it's a week by week thing luke. steelers have not been impressive and are not healthy. jaguars were incredibly impressive and healthy going into the bye week. case closed.

  5. really its a week to week thing?? ... if that were truly the case then you would have the steelers ahead of your jaguars ... and you keep talking about health stuff? what does that matter if the steelers keep winning games? ... they pound the bengals (who have been playing teams close) on the road, and you move buffalo up four spots because they beat san diego at home?? ... dumb ... just trying to help you out man all the while calling you out for your misguided rankings, especially at the top (which is all that matters) ... and don't close cases on me, that's not how it works ... it should also be noted that you think the jags are the best team in the NFL ... even my brother thinks that is ridiculous
