2017 Barnes Bracketology - Feb. 28

The month of March is upon us. And so is the Madness. If that's not enough to get you through whatever is stressing you out or troubling you, I don't know what is. 3 weeks of win or go home college basketball cures all. So say goodbye to February, because March is where all the action is.

MY PROJECTED FIELD OF 68
(changes in italics)

LOCKS: Added 2 more teams, and could have added a couple more but held back. Maybe next time. For now, Arkansas and Iowa State have punched their ticket into the field. And with Gonzaga's loss, we have a new top overall seed.

These are in order so you know how I rank these teams right now.

LOCKS (32): Villanova, Kansas, Gonzaga, North Carolina, Louisville, Oregon, Baylor, Kentucky, Arizona, Florida, Florida State, UCLA, Duke, Butler, Purdue, Cincinnati, West Virginia, Notre Dame, SMU, Wisconsin, Dayton, Virginia, Minnesota, Creighton, Saint Mary's, South Carolina, VCU, Oklahoma State, Maryland, Iowa State, Arkansas, Xavier,

AUTOS: Just made one change.

Teams that have clinched their berth will appear in bold

AUTOS (23): America East - Vermont, Atlantic Sun - Florida Gulf Coast, Big Sky - North Dakota, Big South - UNC-Asheville, Big West - UC Irvine, Colonial - UNC-Wilmington, Conference-USA - Middle Tennessee, Horizon - Valparaiso, Ivy - Princeton, MAAC - Monmouth, MAC - Akron, MEAC - NC Central, Missouri Valley - Wichita State, Mountain West - Nevada, Northeast - Mount St. Mary's, Ohio Valley - Belmont, Patriot - Bucknell, Southern - ETSU, Southland - New Orleans, SWAC - Texas Southern, Summit - South Dakota, Sun Belt - UT Arlington, WAC - Cal St Bakersfield

AT-LARGE: The sudden rise of Vanderbilt continues. The Commodores just keep on winning and now find themselves in the field. We'll see how long they stay, as long as others near the end of this list.

These are in order, so the last four teams will be playing in the "First Four" in Dayton.

AT-LARGE (13): Miami (FL), Virginia Tech, Michigan State, Michigan, Rhode Island, Northwestern, Illinois State, Seton Hall, USC, California, Vanderbilt, Syracuse

BUBBLE WATCH

BUBBLE: I've done some trimming to this group. Teams like Georgetown, Pittsburgh, Indiana and Clemson are just playing so awful right now that it doesn't make sense to even include them. In the case of the Hoosiers, they have a RPI of 100. Clemson and Pitt are both 3-9 in their last 12. They just aren't tourney teams despite some quality wins for all.

These are in order, so to figure out the first teams out, head to the final team from the AT-LARGE category and look for all the teams behind them.

BUBBLE (26): Miami (FL), Wichita State, Virginia Tech, Michigan State, Michigan, Rhode Island, Northwestern, Illinois State, Seton Hall, USC, California, Vanderbilt, Syracuse, Wake Forest, Middle Tennessee, Georgia Tech, TCU, Georgia, Marquette, Kansas State, Houston, UT Arlington, Tennessee, Indiana, Ohio State
